Community Groups

THE PURPOSE OF COMMUNITY GROUPS

To fulfill the command Jesus taught as the most important: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength; and love your neighbor as yourself.” This is carried out by following the “one another” teachings of Christ, which will encourage the identification and usage of spiritual gifts in building relationships, loving and praying for one another. The purpose is to enjoy fellowship and hands-on ministry among a community of believers.

THE VISION FOR COMMUNITY GROUPS

The vision for community groups is to glorify God by expanding His kingdom through growing meaningful relationships, building community within our church body, and reaching out with a ministry mindset to welcome newcomers. Lord-willing, these groups will continue to grow and multiply until being a part of a community group is the norm for every member of POPC.

THE PRIORITY OF COMMUNITY GROUPS

Your elders, including your pastors, firmly believe that the highest ministry activity in which we engage is the corporate worship of our triune God every Lord’s Day. Your leaders also agree that it is extremely important for your walk with the Lord, and for the overall health of our church body that our members be regularly involved in smaller fellowship and study settings for the purpose of building authentic community with each other. We believe our Lord Himself teaches that gathering to grow relationships is a vital, critically important aspect central to the spiritual growth of brothers and sisters in Christ. It is our prayer and goal that being involved in a Community Group will be the norm rather than the exception, and that every member who can feasibly join a Community Group does so.

Blessings! Pastor Caleb
