Compassion Ministries
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Bereavement Meals
A caring and compassionate group of ladies prepare a meal at our church immediately following a funeral or memorial service for any POPC member who has experienced the loss of an immediate family member; extended family members are also invited to this meal. If know of someone in need or if you would like to come along side our bereaved through this ministry, please contact Helaine Maley (601-982-2275).
Shepherding Meals
A very practical and meaningful way in which you can minister to individuals and families at POPC is to provide a meal in times of illness, unusual hardship, or following the birth or adoption of a child. We also need volunteers to coordinate the preparation and delivery of meals for a three-month period. This is a much appreciated ministry. Each volunteer is contacted only a few times per year. Please contact Joy Lurate (601-956-3283 ext 236) for further information.
If you know of someone in need of shepherding meals, please tell the shepherding contact in that person’s Sunday School Class. If you do not know the name of the shepherding contact, please contact following:

Freezer Meals Ministry
Many of our women have the desire to prepare meals for our members during difficult circumstances. In addition to providing hot meals, Women’s Ministries desires to keep frozen foods (precooked frozen soups, entrees, side dishes, breads) on hand for time-sensitive needs. Each item should be carefully wrapped in a disposable container with cooking instructions and ingredient list firmly affixed to it. Please use a permanent marker to write the preparation date on a piece of masking tape and tape it to the item as well. If you would like to contribute any item(s) at any time for this much-appreciated ministry, contact Joy Lurate (601-956-3283 #236; joy@pearorchard.org).
Other Ministries of Compassion
Please consider ministering to our sisters in Christ through caring correspondence, taking flowers to those unable to attend church, encouraging caregivers, or ministering to those who have lost spouses or children. If you are interested in serving through these ministries, please contact Joy Lurate (601-956-3283 ext 236) for details.
