If you’re a member of POPC, you should be receiving a letter this week from Mr. John Wiggins, our Sanctuary Renovation Capital Campaign Committee chairman. It’s a wonderful reiteration of the benefits that a renovated Sanctuary will bring to us, as well as a request to make a commitment to give toward this project. Please read through it, and prayerfully consider how God may be calling you to give generously and sacrificially. Whatever amount you are able to give, remember that all your resources ultimately come from the Lord. David’s words in 1 Chronicles 29:11-16 when Israel gave toward the building of the temple are vital to keep in mind whenever we give, and especially when we give toward building projects:
“Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O LORD, and you are exalted as head above all. Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all. In your hand are power and might, and in your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all. And now we thank you, our God, and praise your glorious name. But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able thus to offer willingly? For all things come from you, and of your own have we given you. For we are strangers before you and sojourners, as all our fathers were. Our days on the earth are like a shadow, and there is no abiding. O LORD our God, all this abundance that we have provided for building you a house for your holy name comes from your hand and is all your own.”
Be praying that the Lord would raise the necessary funds soon. I would love for us to be in our renovated Sanctuary in time for our 50th anniversary celebration next Fall!

Here’s my latest post on Substack. In it I consider what John Owen, the great 17th c. Puritan theologian, says about one of the ways that indwelling sin prevails in our souls to cause a decline and decay in our pursuit of holiness. I hope it’s a helpful encouragement and warning for you as it has been for me!
